Reloading of the international transport corridor "North-South"
Abstract
The agreement on the creation of the international transport corridor "North-South" between Russia, Iran and India was signed in September 2000. The contracting parties intended to increase trade exchange and transit traffic in order to accelerate economic growth both in the countries themselves and in the regions of the route. Subsequent events in the world contributed to the introduction of serious adjustments that had a negative impact on its development: a series of economic downturns, the US invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, the emergence of the One Belt, One Road Initiative, and Russia's special military operation in Ukraine. All this led to a significant change in commodity flows and an understanding of the significance of this transport corridor.
